Although the transfer to/from Myrtle was restricted towards the end, I recall riding the Myrtle in 1958, the year my father died and getting a paper transfer from the A to Myrtle at Jay St. I also remember seeing a note on the NYCTA subway maps circa 1960 that mention the availability of transfers between Myrtle and the IND only at stations between Sumner and Navy St but the transfer from the IND to the el was unrestricted. Of course late evenings and nights when fares were collected on board the trains, transfers were available at Bridge/jay St at the agent;’s booth. By the way when are the rest of you buffs going to realize that Bway/Myrtle to Bridge St is railroad NORTH!!!!. The only reason that the QJ and later the M were changed to southbound was when they were through routed to the Southern Division where they were southbound towards Coney Island. With the M now being routed to Ctl, it has been returned to its rightful direction of northbound leaving Metropolitan, and since at the present time, there is no chance of any through routing between the Eastern and the Southern the J should be changed back to NORTHBOUND lvg Jamaica and SOUTHBOUND towards Jamaica. To those of you who have any doubts, keep in mind that under the BMT/IND track numbering scheme odd numbered tracks are southbound and even numbered tracks are northbound so by observation M2 and J2 tks are headed away from Met and Jamaica respectively making the service operating from those locations properly NORTHBOUND.
