They must have done a cheap wooden rebuild with a short payback period because I am sure they dreamed even in 1946 of tearing it down after the dust would settle from tearing down the Lex el - the IND was there, nothing else mattered, including High Street station about on the underground fooprint of BRT's Ground Zero (Sands Street terminal).
