More frequent service. Lefferts trains run on 15-20 minute off-peak headways. The C runs at 10-12. That being said, I'm sure Lefferts Blvd riders will bitch about having to ride a local no matter what. |

Coming south to midtown:- D vastly outperforms the B. - 4/5 ditto vs the 6. - 2/3 vs the 1. Even for A/D vs B/C from 125 to 59 usually the express saves some time. |

When standing, even if the express takes the same amount of time it is better. The reason being, the doors open less, and sometimes you will have long stretches where only one side opens. No repositioning to worry about. If you're on a local there's really no good door to lean on, unless the door motor is broken. This is why IMO local trains should use R46-style cars with plenty of extra seats, while express trains make more sense to have the R160-type seating. If you're sitting the extra 5-10 minutes and extra times the doors open aren't really a problem. If standing it's torture. |

"-D vastly outperforms the B"That may depend on time of day. I have found the opposite of what you state to be true. The two times I was going southbound at 6:00 PM, the D express I was on got passed by two Cs and a B between 125th and 59th. I should have gotten on the B at BPB and stayed on. |

But that's off-peak. What about rush hours? Rush hours is a different story, as the A runs much more frequently then. Not to mention that you'd have the A expresses and C locals merging in a third location (Euclid). |

There are only 3 stops from Lefferts to 96th St-Rockaway Blvd. They can change there for "A" express from the Rockaways to the City. Add a few more rush-hour "A" trains from Lefferts, like they used to do with the "E" express, years ago. |

I've found that local stops usually add about 30 seconds each to the running time, a little more in rush hours if they are crowded. So the A in Brooklyn will typically save about 5 minutes over the C (the 9 local stops skipped would make it nominally a 4.5 minute difference). 10 minutes max if all the stops are jammed, which seems unlikely. |

A rush hour 6 from 14th to 42nd can easily take 3-4 minutes more than the 4/5. From BB to 125th you are talking about a lot of extra time. |

Do the rules require that conductors allow the full announcement for each station to play before closing the doors? |

Currently the Lefferts operates on a 16 minute headway during off peak hours so that's not such a big improvement especially since the train would be local or you have to transfer to an express. |

I believe the 6 Express was to be the 8,not 12.The 12 was a Lenox Flatbush version of the former 3 line route before the terminal switch. The 13 was the Dyre New Lots version of the 2,and the 10 is the White Plains Road Lexington ave Thru Express. |

Actually, the 8 was the post war number originally given to the Astoria Line when the IRT ran there and later assigned to the Bx portion of the 3 Av El. The original 9 was used on the Dyre Ave shuttle before it was reassigned to the Bway skip stop. |

Probably has something to do with the crappy A service itself. You have to wait for the infrequent shuttle, and hope it connects with the infrequent A, as opposed to taking the Q53 directly to Liberty Avenue where you have a choice of any A train. In any case, here's an idea: How about the A remains the same during rush hour (when the Lefferts & Far Rockaway branches all run somewhat frequently individually) but the C is sent to Lefferts off-peak, with A service split up among the Rockaways and the shuttle eliminated? The only problem is that reverse-peak service isn't as good as peak service (those Rockaway Park A trains are peak-direction only) |
