The part that mattered to me was correct :). I chose to wait at 96st because the schedule posted here showed it leaving at noon while the first scheduled northbound was 12:03, meaning the 96st train was to be the first to move on the new line with regular customers. The Governor being on it sealed the deal. |

I was at Times Square at 12:51, saw a Q marked 57/7 pull in about 12:54, and didn't get on, because I trusted the information posted here. I waited for the next train, marked 96/2, and figured it truly was the first train going there, although there was no announcement to that effect. It left 57/7 at 12:06, and waited a few minutes in the tunnel between there and 63/Lex. Oh well. Was the extra train out of 57/7 one of the wrapped trains? |

They were able to clear the temporary layup track of a train. If they layup like this again Monday into Tuesday, lots of working people will be messed up between 6 & 7 AM.IMO. |

The extra I was on out of 57/7, which left at 1202, was not a wrapped train. I was in the 9th car met up with a group of friends at 57. One of them put his head out and looked back. He saw another train behind us. We were at 63/Lex over 5 minutes. Reading another post here, it said single track operation was in effect. That fact was not relayed to us. |

There is still claim to be had to be on the first train from Coney Island to venture into the new line. There were many "first trains" yesterday:1. The 12:00 from 96st, first to use the northbound track (weird). 2. The 11:55 put in, first to use the northbound track in the correct direction and to carry passengers from 63rd/Lex to 72nd st. 3. Your train, the first to bring people from Coney Island to the second ave line. 4. The second wrapped train (which included car 9030) which was the first to use the full southbound track. 5. The lay ups staged at 72st and 86st, which look like they opened for service at the stations they laid up at. So anyone who boarded those were the first customers carried on parts of the southbound track. |

I was a little disappointed it *wasn't* crush loaded (I think we underestimated how much capacity these trains have). More people should have followed the info Stef posted.There were a lot of little kids on that first train (some talking about R160s and such, true subway fans!) who will forever remember riding the first train down the first segment of what will likely be the last new trunk line ever built in Manhattan. |

I was debating with myself at Times Square whether to get on that last Q to 57th, thinking that there just might be something like what happened. I didn't because I believed the predictions about how crowded the first train would be, and wanted a seat. I did sit part of the way, then stood part of the way anyway (but with space around me), talking to another railfan (who confirmed he was on SubChat, and had some long hyphenated handle that I can't fully remember, starting with "E") and a reporter from (I think) some local paper. So I rode the first regular train onto Second Ave., even if not the very first train. |
