Point taken, nor should you have to.

It should NEVER get to the point where you have to run at the pleasure of Wall Street, but the fact is, they would have been screaming whether it was 6" or 60" and some of whom are wealthy enough to fund candidates who will do what *they* want.

As said, in my opinion they likely will get back at Cuomo over this by more heavily funding GOP candidates outside New York in House/Senate races where either the Democratic incumbent is vulnerable, it's an open race that's a toss-up or where the Republican incumbent needs the support to retain that seat. The Democratic Party I'm sure knows this and I'm sure even if only privately is FURIOUS with Cuomo and in my opinion may have read Cuomo the riot act over the shutdown behind closed doors because of how they may be the ones who deal with unintended consequences from what happened.

Absolutely. Mario never looked ahead to the next election first like it appears "Prince Andrew" did on this one.

Like I said, I suspect "Prince Andrew" may very well have behind closed doors got a scolding by "Queen Debbie" (Democratic Party Chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz) and/or her associates who likely are FURIOUS with Cuomo over this.

Mario would never have shut down the subways UNLESS it were a Sandy or Irene situation where it's obvious the subways have to be shut down. He knew NOT to PO Wall Street which his son did.

Stop feeding him and he'll go away. He's in this anti-Cuomo Wall Street mode. He still thinks the City should have kept the 6th Ave el, as well as the subway. I keep reminding him to take his meds, but it apparently does no good!

Wally,

These so-called "Wall Streeters" with their Men's Wearhouse suits have a child's attention span, cannot think beyond Friday's close, and have short memories.

The I-T is in Brooklyn, Jersey City, and India. There is also such a thing at Programmed Trading, and telecommuting with VPN. The hysterical, self important, floor traders are mere theatre. Don't take this too seriously.

I just base it on what I have seen.

Like I said, I seriously doubt David Faber would have stuck his neck out like he did going on and on and repeatedly blasting Cuomo on Tuesday morning over the shutdown unless ALL of Wall Street felt that way. Faber has too strong of a repuation built over a long period of time to do that.

Seriously, Wally. Wall Street has the attention span of a two year old. They'll piss and moan and politicians will grab the ball and run with it to the goal post, but in the end only the talking necks on the cable news channels will bother with this. Then "Squirrel!" as in the movie "Up." Next talking point. "Yesterday's news, yawn."

Prince Andrew is a moron, he's already blaming MTA for his choice, requiring Prendergast to take the blame for HIS decision and so it goes, and then on to the next level of his campaign to be Prez. If anything actually comes of all this, Prendergast falls on his sword because he needs "more time with his family values." LOL. New Yorkers NEVER make it to America or Rudy or Koch would be Prez.

Seriously. Nap time!

The problem is, while MOST of Wall Street likely has now move on (including Faber), the wealthy heads of a lot of those companies who were affected on Tuesday likely HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN and WILL NOT FORGET or FORGIVE any time soon.

The so-called "self-centered wealthy" have the money to fund candidates to do what THEY want. THEY are the ones who now could create collateral damage and unintended consequences for the Democrats from this shutdown (since they can't directly get back at Cuomo/Prendegast) and more heavily fund Republican candidates in an attempt to make sure the GOP retains control of the House and Senate in 2016 than they would have otherwise.

That is something I'm sure the Democrats, even if only privately are very concerned about. They already have to worry about the Koch Brothers and how they are relentless in funding GOP candidates to get what THEY want and I'm sure privately they were cheering Cuomo/Prendegast shutting the system down for purely selfish reasons. Add what happened Monday night into Tuesday morning and it makes it that much more difficult.

Politics should NEVER enter into whether the subways should be shut down or not but this shutdown seems to have exposed that because there are those "self-centered wealthy" who likely have not forgotten.

"I keep reminding him to take his meds, but it apparently does no good!"

You do realize that with the new HIPA laws in place, we will never find out exactly what those medications are?

LOL!

Wally, I think you've been beating a "dead horse" on the idea that Wall Street really, and I mean really cares about the subway shut-down to enact political revenge. Wall Street does not care that much, and there's been no indications that they care enough - as if Wall Street speaks with one voice. It's time to give this idea a rest.

When there is indeed documented non-controvertible evidence, then please feel free to come back to the forum banging the drum, "I told ya!, I told ya!". Until then just place this idea in your folder as something to come back to when there's real proof.

One aspect of the subway shut-down issue lurking in the background is the idea that the subways should NEVER EVER BE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF in almost any kind of weather emergency. That's an idea that could be questioned. There is a good case to be made that shutting down the buses and subways (or parts of the system) could indeed be a responsible response to a very severe weather emergency. It is not like the subways and buses have not been shut down for strikes, hurricanes, power outages, etc.

Wally, many of us (while some may not) appreciate the force-fullness in which you stand up for and defend your ideas. You do not back-done at the first sign of dis-agreement, and you often en-liven this forum with creative solutions to problems many have not considered. There are times however, when to realize that you have made your case on a certain idea, everyone understands your point of view, and now its time to move on.

Mike
