The problem is, while MOST of Wall Street likely has now move on (including Faber), the wealthy heads of a lot of those companies who were affected on Tuesday likely HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN and WILL NOT FORGET or FORGIVE any time soon.The so-called "self-centered wealthy" have the money to fund candidates to do what THEY want. THEY are the ones who now could create collateral damage and unintended consequences for the Democrats from this shutdown (since they can't directly get back at Cuomo/Prendegast) and more heavily fund Republican candidates in an attempt to make sure the GOP retains control of the House and Senate in 2016 than they would have otherwise. That is something I'm sure the Democrats, even if only privately are very concerned about. They already have to worry about the Koch Brothers and how they are relentless in funding GOP candidates to get what THEY want and I'm sure privately they were cheering Cuomo/Prendegast shutting the system down for purely selfish reasons. Add what happened Monday night into Tuesday morning and it makes it that much more difficult. Politics should NEVER enter into whether the subways should be shut down or not but this shutdown seems to have exposed that because there are those "self-centered wealthy" who likely have not forgotten. |
