A good guess would be, this board is half utes, and half senior dudes.

It is the senior dudes, I address.

Have you planned ahead?

This offer does not exclude the utes, that are young, and foolish.

Railfan windows, Front, and Rear!

In the past in London, there has been a whole dedicated railway for funeral trains.

And Britons of a certain age may remember a certain funeral train:

Look at the Second photo, the left end is missing the railing on the platform.
I would guess that was the entry point for the casket.

When I was a child, I was told that people along the route would place coins on the track, to be flattened as the train passed, and kept as keep sakes, or souvenirs.

Got it. I guess there was some sort of ramp/platform built to help load the coffin.

Yes, WW II GI's returning for burial in their home towns, but in Baggage cars.
Possibly again for the Korean War. Again in the baggage car. I'm not sure on what the policy was back then, but maybe with a military Honour Guard.

Golfers travelling from London to West Hill Golf Club, which stood right next to Brookwood’s grounds, sometimes took advantage of this, dressing up as mourners to ride the Necropolis train down, and so pay a lower fare.

It was eventually decided that LNC would supply all future train crews with a free ploughman’s lunch and a single pint of beer so they wouldn’t be tempted to go to the pub.

That's soooo English.

From Middleton's "The Interurban Era" pg 62, this is The Milwaukee Electric Railway & Light Company's car No. 1000. The picture credit is the State Historical Society of Wisconsin.

Me too. been there done that. When I was a kid & NY Connecting RR trains would go thru my neighborhood in Queens at about 50mph, we'd put pennies on the rail by the 37th Ave & B'Way overpass to get em flattened out, retrieve as many as we could find & file them down to be the size of quarters for the low tech vending machines of the day. Usually one in ten would work so we'd net an average of a 15 cent profit!

Middleton doesn't mention any others but his caption said: "Before the automobile hearse became an acceptable mode of transportation to the last resting place, dignified funeral cars such as the Milwaukee Electric's No. 1000 were a common sight on interurban and street railway lines, and an on-line cemetery was considered a definite asset."

A Google Image search for 'interurban funeral car' brings up 2-3 accurate hits, especially GreatThirdRail.org re Chicago and Tramz.com where Mexico City is credited with 28 such cars! 'Funeral streetcar' brings up some more including the Descanso of Cajon Pass fame.
