If the Fulton Street Subway was extended East from Euclid in 1948 thru 76th Street Station to SE Queens would the BMT Fulton Street El between Grant Street and Lefferts Blvd be torn down?

Grant St. was obviously not part of the Fulton El but the remainder likely would have been torn down.

If you have seen my posts on this subject over the years, you would know that the extension down Pitkin Av was supposed to coexist with the connection to the Liberty Av portion of the Fulton El. The model board at Euclid bears this out. As originally planned, the Liberty Av el was supposed to stand alone and go only to Lefferts. The continuation of the Pitkin Av subway was to have connected to the LIRR ROW via a portal in the area of old Aqueduct station. Contract books I have seen about the connection also bear this out.

It was Grant AVENUE And it closed in April 1956 the last night of Fulton St el service before the IND took over.

heres a little bit of forgotten transit history.when grant ave was the terminal station of the fulton st.el in the far off days of steam trains,a long island based trolley company called the long island electric co.built a single track masonary ramp up to track level.you left the trolley, walked to a small ticket office and up the stairs to a waiting steam train.it lasted about 5 years until a local farmer with clout protested enough to have the ramp removed.there are no known photos of this ramp, just a hand drawing.
