I wonder why M service between Essex St. and B'way-Myrtle Ave. must end shortly after 10 P.M.,instead of the usual 11:30 P.M. After all, the work is being done along the Queens Blvd. corridor..

Usually when there is a Fast Track operation on the Queens Blvd line, the MTA ends both the M and R trains early, meaning that the Queens Blvd segments stop early.

In the case of the M-train, train service between 71st Avenue-Continental Avenue and Essex Street ends at about 10pm. Usually from that point onward the M-train would usually run from Myrtle Avenue to Metropolitan Avenue - its usual late night shuttle operation.

In the case of the R-train, train service from 71st Avenue - Continental Avenue and Whitehall Street ends early, say 10pm. Usually from that point onward, the R-train would usually run from 36th Street to 95th Street in Brooklyn only, its usual late night shuttle operation. The R-train Manhattan stations from R-train Canal Street south to Whitehall Street would be closed early. The Brooklyn segment of the R-train from Court Street to 95th Street becomes an open question, but that might stop running at 10pm as well. Why end that segment early is an open question.

On the M train unless there is something really interesting going on - a major G.O. - there's always service on the M-train segment from Myrtle Avenue to Metropolitan Avenue, with connecting J-train service to/from Essex Street.

Mike

And something I would fix by perhaps having such (M) trains in that time frame on such a G.O. run via the (B) to Columbus Circle or 57th/6th (perhaps alternating trains) during the period where service ends early otherwise.

Fast Track operations inconveniences many people all over the city.

About a week after this Fast Track operation, the entire A-line north of 59th Street-Columbus Circle is shut down, requiring Harlem and Washington Heights riders to use the #1 train and a series of shuttle buses. During the same period D-train riders to/from the Bronx have to contend with the D-train cut into 2 sections, transfers between the #2 and #4 trains, and shuttle buses. Of course both the B and C train lines end their operations early.

On the G-line, there's a 5-week tunnel repair operation going on that shuts down the G-train in Long Island City due to Hurricane Sandy filling the tunnels with 3 million gallons of salt-water. A shortened G-train and shuttle buses will attempt to replace service.

On the R-line, the on-going 14 month Hurricane Sandy tunnel repair operation severed the R-train into 2 segments, hampering the trips for 30,000 daily R-train riders that used to use that pathway.

Various repair and renovation operations inconveniences many people all over the city.

Mike

Are you calling me a liar? Or maybe I'm reading into your reply.

ABK is the gang. They have been around for a while. Now they are moving up towards 69th. Savage animals who should not be in this country or their parents should have an abortion but you're a Christianist and against that shit.

Do you listen to the B1 and B2 frequencies while at home? They are interesting. A division frequency is boring.

I was not calling you a liar. I said what I said because I have not read about this in the local papers. How else was I supposed to respond if I had no knowledge?

I do not have a scanner to hear what's happening on the road. I get my info from fb, Emailsand convos with former co-workers.

Just received an Email referring to the above mentioned gang from the leader of a neighborhood civic group: COMET (Citizens of Maspeth & Elmhurst Together).

After checking crime stats for a month, the auxiliary police coordinator of the 104 said there were no incidents reported that would indicate gang activity.

The operative word is "reported". If a crime is not reported, it never happened according to the stats.
