On Channel 2, they showed one photo my guess someone shot from the Henry Hudson Parkway overhead, and the derailment happened immediately north of the Spuyten Duyvil Station, right at the old DV junction, and the head cab car almost ended up in the Harlem River!! Very dramatic photo, will try to see if I can find it online here now and post it!!! BIG MESS!!! Train ended up awful far off the tracks!! I long to hear the cause of this!!!!! |

Listening to WCBS, according to a MNRR spokesperson, 5 of the 7 cars derailed, none entered the water, there is no word on how many injuries there were or how many people were on the train. |

Glad to hear there's an event recorder!Considering every time I've heard that alert (I always sit right behind the cab if possible), the crew reflexively slows down, I'd be surprised if it wasn't some sort of mechanical or technical issue rather than entirely human error. The speedometer could have been reporting a lower speed incorrectly. |
