I wonder what historic trains will be used in the parade? Certainly the Broadway Limited but where will they get a K4 or GG1 to put on the point? The Railroad Museum of PA has a K4 but I don't know if it's in shape to be towed.

The Broadway Limited was a Pennsylvania Railroad train, and operated out of Penn Station, not GCT. Perhaps you are thinking of the Twentieth Century Limited, operated from GCT by the New York Central, and carried to Croton-Harmon by (IINM) "S" and "T" electric motors, where it was met by (in its heyday) a 5200-series Hudson.

Oh, geez! GCT...D'oh! I wasn't thinking.

I should have known that. Back in 1960 or 61, my Dad took the 20th Century from GCT to Chicago in February because he needed to be there and didn't want to take a chance on weather grounding flights. After he boarded my Mom took me up to the front so I could look at the engine. The fireman picked me up and lifted me into the cab where the engineer let me pull the cord to sound the horn. You never saw a more excited kid in all your life!

I tell you what, I remember it like it was yesterday. My mother was pushing my brother in a stroller. When I blew the horn, Mom said passengers started rushing on the platform thinking the train was getting ready to leave. We even went home (Sty Town) via the subway, which was the cherry on top of the sundae.
