In fact, to chime in on this post, I recommend the Panasonic Lumix FH-20 (I think that's what it's called). It's pretty decent and you can find it for around $110 on Amazon.Looking further, the FH1 can be had for less than $100 and it seems to be nice...only with 5x Optical Zoom, though. Of course, if you don't have the money, NJT Morris Rider, just work with what you've got as you've been doing until you can do better. |

His cell camera is not good enough to take a picture of a subject in low light, or one that is not stationary, because it needs more light for the AF to function, and it functions much too slowly. Even some P/S cameras (really low end ones from off-name brands) have an issue like this. There's also shutter lag, which I've found is horrible on low-end cameras.I gave my son an old 3MP Minolta to use, I had to teach him to wait for the beep before moving, because the shutter lag is that bad, even with fresh batteries. I've got a memory card full of streaks... |

Now I do not know what the focus capability of your cell phone camera, but when your intended subject is coming your way, make sure you get the focus on the subject nice and clear before you shoot. Practice with a few test shots till you get it right as you desire.Also, the simplest thing, as with many cell cams, is that the lens could need a good cleaning, so try that too. All in friendly, constructive criticism!! :-) BTW, from what I see in newspapers and the latest ad from 17th Street Photo, there are some pretty decent sales on point and shoot cameras and even DSLRs. I say take advantage of it and move up from cell cammin'!!! Nikon's lower level DSLR, the D-3000 is going for under $500 now, with 10.1 MPs and comes with an 18-55 MM Nikkor lens. |

It seems he's also taking these photos under low light conditions, something that cell phones, with their usually tiny apertures, simply can't handle well. Under less that full daylight, best to stick with stationary objects (possibly try resting the phone against a solid object). |

I agree with BMTLines...that's the proper way to critique!I know I'm a little older, and this is just me...but my cell phone should be used to make phone calls (ok, I've warmed up to texting and minor web surfing)...but if you want to take pictures, use a camera! They're fine for those "HEY! Look at that!" spur of the moment shots. I certainly don't want nor expect my camera to make a phone call...and if it did, it probably wouldn't sound good either. |
