First, my apologies ... my "scoffing" wasn't intended the way it appeared to go. I'm not fond of "psychology" and those who "practice" it. Goes back to the days when I was in school in the 50's and got sent to see numerous "shrinks" owing to "behavior problems" in school. And the IQ tests, and the "association tests" and all sorts of weird diagnoses. What the shrinks never bothered to check was my EYES. Once I got glasses, I could see and didn't have to ask friends if what I thought I was seeing on the blackboard was correct or not being able to function because I couldn't quite make out what was going on. Vision never even occurred to any of them, each had their "pet disease" and by gum, *I* had it. :(

I scoff at "A.D.D." since the primary purpose seems to be peddling ritalin. And I suppose I also scoff at "victim culture" ... but my point is that Aspergers' isn't all that terribly serious a "disease" and in fact it's a blessing for many - unique outlooks, unique abilities. My concern is people believing somehow that because of this, they're something less than they were before in their own eyes. I'm mainly concerned that folks are going to believe all this ... and lower their own value as a result.
