So Amtrak should never attempt to increase their market share in other regions? It's a complete waste to do anything other than the NEC? That is a completely ignorant position, especially in light of the growth California, Illinois, Washington, and Oregon have seen with their much less intensive services. The simple fact is that it is far too expensive to do any sort of proper HSR here in the Northeast Corridor, but elsewhere in the US we can get far lower property acquisition costs for the enroute tracks and thus get far more bang for our collective buck. |
