They actually don't look good.

Why? Because the administration didn't puff up their chests and say, "It's going to remain the Yellow Line because I said so! Deal with it!"? There is such a thing as "choosing your own battles". I'm sure that if it was a significant hardship for MARTA to make the change, then they probably wouldn't "cave" so quickly.

The worst thing for them to do is make a big deal out of nothing and dig in their heels. Then they are setting themselves up for a lawsuit based on the Title VI anti-discrimination federal law(?), however bogus the claim may be. The media would have a field day with that!

If the group is politically connected, they can certainly put MARTA in a bad light as well. If I'm not mistaken, there are some serious transit funding issues in Georgia, and MARTA needs all the political help it can get as management fights for sufficient funding to can maintain decent service.

The time to dig in the heels is when people complain about how MARTA has to raise fares and streamline services in order to make budget, among other things. However, making such a minor change in a line identification (that was newly renamed) isn't a big deal at all in the grand scheme of things. Is it an eye roller? Yes. However, if it makes the group of people complaining warm and fuzzy, and could potentially add to the support MARTA needs to make it in the future, then just do it!
