It's nice that the trucking company (TMI) "stood by their employee". It is possible to work under truly dismal employment conditions, like the old Metropolitan Ambulance company I moonlighted with once upon a time. There, if you had two chargeable accidents in any 18-month period (company policy was that all accidents, except being struck from directly behind, were your fault, and therefore "preventable"), you were out, fired, gone, and blacklisted. They made SURE you couldn't work for any other ambulance service in town, including the hospitals. You were unemployable, period. Metropolitan's owner was that well-connected.I daresay if anyone had let one of Metro's ambulances be destroyed by a train, they'd be better off dead... |
