You're correct that you can't look back with today's attitudes. Even more recently in my parents' early lives, once you had money to buy a car you were somebody (even moreso if it was just you and your girl and not 6 other dudes lol). The idea was that you were "sprung" from public transportation, even if just on weekends like it was for most.your pal, Fred |
