They were apparently hiring anybody they could get to finish the job. On several occasions I saw a crane truck trying to lift a large object behind it, but instead of object being lifted, the front of the truck went up instead!No union labor restrictions and rules back then, I guess! Unfortunately, the fact that Atlantic Ave is underdeveloped probably has more to do with the neighborhoods it passes through (and I live in one of them!} than with anything else. Alas, that's true. Some fairly rough stretches, although the City had been improving, at least while the economy was doing well. |
