TAs Newest $16 Million Blunder |

Posted by ROCKPARKMAN on Tue Oct 28 16:09:45 2008 Talk about the screw-up of all screw ups!!! This week, instead of reefing cars off the coast of Delaware, the TA will be trying to find one recently reefed car on the ocean floor and un-reef it. . The memo that I saw didn’t give the car number but according to note, the car was not scheduled for reefing but was reefed sometime last month, by mistake, with a sophisticated biological / radiological sensing system still hidden within the car structure. The prototype sensor was installed in 2005 as part of a federally funded anti-terrorism project and is housed in a waterproof – shockproof case, similar to an aircraft “black box”. It should be ok under water for up to 3 months . The loss of the probe and the data it contains will cause the TA to default on the multi-million dollar contract. The cost of retrieving the sensor is expected to be up to $16 million depending on how long it takes to locate the car and raise it from its resting place 90 – 100 feet below the surface. The car has to be located and raised now while the weather out in the Atlantic is still cooperating. Someone should get a major ass kicking over this one. |
