I had always heard it was the Bonaventure Hotel construction. (Or is that itself the "California Plaza towers). Still, this article implies the construction was above the tunnel, and that they were afraid it couldn't hold the weight. It also points out that this is disproven by the fact that the freeway was built over it.Now this thing about oil I had never heard of, and the historical association site doesn't mention it. Still, that sounds like something that could be easily drained off. (I also never heard of them planning to have a PE car at the terminal. That at least would have been nice). |
