It copies the info from the Westwood site, which reads:

The only physical alteration to the site came about in 1967, when a portion of the tunnel between Flower and Figueroa Streets in downtown was filled in to accommodate the foundation of the Bonaventure Hotel.

That's the source of the belief that the tunnel is permanently unblockable. However, it says "to accomodate". Not even "to make way for" or anything like that. This would actually hbe compatible with the other account, that it was only filled in because of a feared weight limitation for the contruction being above it. It's like this info glosses over the full details of exactly why it was filled in, yet you can still read it between the lines.

So I don't know why absolutely NOBODY is thinking of using this tunnel for all the rail expansions (not even the fanciful "future" ones like in the other thread), or nostalgia lines, like the section in San Pedro. Perhaps they too misread the Westwood info and think its space is built in. Even if it was, they could still use the two halves for something!

I tried to contact the erha, but their e-mail address is expired or something.
