If they're serious about eliminating diesel routes, then the Main and Bergen lines should be their first target, even if the service cannot run to Penn. It's the only major line which is NOT electrified in any way. Service needs on the Boonton, southern NJCL and the line to Hackettstown are just not used enough to justify electrification. Electrification of the PVL would incur serious NIMBY problems. |
