ANOTHER inside picture?Well, that's the 7th Avenue end. There used to be a huge slam gate there, as wide as the passage itself. I saw that open once, and there was some fire in some room off to the side (and the walls do look smoke charred), so it would be open. Shortly afterward, they built the wall with the small door, which says "station Dept. It was completely dark looking in, and you could not see light from the other end. Well, the person who posted the other pictures last year said that they did build a wall right where the mall property ends, so it does not go all the way through. That would kind of make sense, as both ends had different owners (the mall, and the hotel), and it is in those properties' respective vaults. But now the owners are the same (Vornado)! So it is just a matter of Vornado being interested in reopening and maintaining it. (Again, it would be beneficial to their tenants on the mall end!) I just got through emailing the suggestion about it to them. I want to e-mail JC Penney to, but it doesn't make sense as they are not in there yet. (I was not able to update my page with the other pictures yet, because of some system error or maintenance in AOL; can't access ftp space). |
