I still hope that has not been dropped from the plans or anything like that.They have not really done much work on the lower portion of the building in a couple of years, because they are using the ground floor for material and equipment storage, as they slowly complete the upper floors. (the southeast corner on the ground floor is beginning to take shape, however). So I cannot tell what is going on underground. I just called Durst to see what I could find out, and they didn't really know much (one person in the construction dept. was away). I still don't see where it would come out on the Times Sq. side, and they didn't know if it would connect with the Conde Nast building (which is inbetween the BOA and Times Sq, and they own as well). The date on the whole building now is sometime next year. Also, on 33rd St. I had written the Mall, suggesting that it would be beneficial for them to reopen the passage. As it is, the guy who supplied the other pictures said it is connected by a door to the Mall's utility tunnel. So perhaps, they might make a deal with Vornado to share the passage, like the one on 49th connecting 745 7th with 1251 6th. |
