I'd be going ALONG with you on this about the "bad idea" of TUBES as skyscrapers. Oh qwap ... just said it. :(At least the "bad design" had the decency to do a "CDI" (Controlled Demolition Inc) style pancake with little damage outside its "envelope." Second time tonight I've said something that could be interpreted as "cruel but TRUE" without wanting to, but facts is facts. One of the things NEVER considered is how to safely take down an obsolete building quickly without extreme danger. WTC came down "smoothly" given all that happened because it was such a *LOUSY* design. Look at the demolition of Deutschebank next to Ground Zero as to an example of what a complicated mess taking down a skyscraper COULD have been. :( So call me heartless (sorry, I'm ONLY talking technical fact about the buildings themselves, NOTHING else) but NYC was DAMNED lucky it was WTC that fell down rather than something DESIGNED to be SOLID. In other words, you're ABOLUTELY right. :( |
