Has it occurred to anyone that (a) the D alone might not adequately serve the West End line, and (b) some West End passengers might find a direct service to lower Manhattan convenient?

In fact, the M could easily turn at 9th Avenue. Instead it continues down to Bay Parkway. I suggest that, perhaps, there's a reason!
