Do they get up to a good speed? My dad told me about the very early days of Israeli trains decades ago. They were lucky to get up to 10 mph and the joke was that if a train was going to derail, which was not uncommon, you could serve lunch and take bets as to which side the cars would fall over. It would take them a while to decide.

I imagine the trains run much better today.
