I didn;t mean to imply that I was scared of the Broadway El, as I wsasn't....I rode through every day, at least the western portion of it, and often enough throughout the 80's too on the east of Myrtle part. It's not so much that I was scared, it was more of an uneasy feeling, and it was mostly because of all the abandoned and burnt out buildings, it just gave an uneasy, depressing feeling going through there. Today, I am there all the time. I just love how Bushwick is coming along. Many streets are so nice now. It still has a way to go, but it's not a neighborhood to be uncomfortable in anymore. Again, it's probably because of all the new buildings, and basically 95% of all the abandoned ones are either gone or refurbished now. it's come a long way in the last 10 years, and it's better every day. |
