When I came back to New York during the mid-80's..I had some "homeies" that lived in the Bay Ridge/Bensonhurst area of South Brooklyn.. Use to rider the R train all the way out...or the B train... I never had any problems with being there,even though I was usually the only person of color around. It was cool..cause people that you THOUGHT would be UNFRIENDLY turned out to be MORE than friendly! One of them went back to the Navy...and one moved next door to me here in the Northside. People are the same all over,if you give them the chance. |
