Tuscarora Forgotten Station No. 5 / Mount Loretto Staten Island Rapid Transit Railway Company Tottenville Line Mount Loretto Station Passenger Service Ended: 1939 Mount Loretto station was located on the grounds of the Mount Loretto Orphange on Staten Island. It was reached by a mile long spur from the Tottenville Line of the Staten Island Rapid Transit Railway. The spur connected to the mainline just south of Pleasant Plains station and was mainly used for coal deliveries. Once a month a special train would operate from Saint George directly to Mount Loretto. It consisted of two to three of the ME-1 electric MU’s hauled by a steam locomotive since the spur itself was not electrified. The special trains continued to run until 1939. Freight service lasted until about 1950.
