The 36 ML were given the treatment that the R33 Mainline cars got.

I don't see the reason for the switch up.
The Whole R36 contract could have gone right to the Flushing Line,instead of splitting it up.
The 33ML could have gone the same way.
What caused the changes?
The World's Fair.. the need to replace the Flushing line equipment and provide longer trains for service increases.

The need to replace the mainline prewar cars became apparent,the R12/14/15 to the mainline would help expedite the process.
