If I remember correctly, they installed switches there, so trains to and from the north tracks could still access both tunnels, the original and the new. Later on they removed the switches and hard-tracked the turn to Grand St. You could see the original tunnel for years. Then they walled it up for years. More recently they removed the wall and you can see it again, with new lights. I don't know why they walled it up or then later removed the wall. |
