All Southern Division trains ran via tunnel. New track connections had to be hard railed: the north side tracks of the Manhattan Bridge were tied to the new Chrystie St. connection while the south side tracks were tied into the Broadway line. You can still see the unused tunnel before the turn to Chrystie St.
