"They always punch twice with a paper ticket."It all depends on the ticket collector, which always drove me crazy. One ticket collector would act as if you were an idiot for offering the ticket the second time, and then the next would treat you like an idiot for not offering it. Worse, the collector before Jamaica might punch you twice without seat checks and then be relieved after Jamaica (or they'd change "the split") with the successor collector wanting to see a ticket with one punch. Then there were the times I wouldn't get punched before Jamaica and then after Jamaica the collector would get angry at me because another LIRR employee didn't do his job. The total lack of consistency is one of the things I don't miss about not using mass transit. |
