Oh yeah, I've seen it hundreds of times.

My daily commute for a long time was taking the PJ from Huntington to JAM, getting the Q44 to the Bronx.

And the reverse coming home. And upon getting the diesel train (I always timed it to get the diesel so sometimes I could go directly to Northport) they almost always didn't check the tickets.
