I would still like to see an eventual hookup between the SAS and Dyre but at the moment it would be a little more involved than it would have been a few years ago. As originally envisioned, the SAS would emerge from a portal just N/O the Harlem River and utilize the entire NYW&B ROW from its original terminal all the way to Dyre. Over the years most of the ROW S/O E180 had been destroyed and its space built over with housing. If the SAS were to be reconnected to Dyre, a new subway of considerable length would now have to be constructed all the way from the north side of the river to a point just S/O E180 where it could be connected to the Dyre. Lokking at my Bronx map, it might still be possible to utilize the NYW&B ROW from the river to around 174 St but then a short structure would still have to be built to connect it to the Dyre line itself. |
