By 1927, they probably frowned upon pedestrian crossings. They built the overpass at some point. They also had to built a shoe fly track to construct the overpass of Peninsula Blvd, the grade starting at the south end of Gibson station. Then they put houses on the foooprint of the shoe fly track.

Original Hewlett had a grade crossing at each end, as did Inwood.

Woodmere and Cedarhurst had pedestrian crossings mid-way. My grandmother in the 1960's used the Cedarhurst one to get to Daitch Shopwell with her shopping wagon, but missed it in 1968 . She was arthritic, but Washington Avenue is not that far away.

I don't remember if Lawrence had a pedestrian crossing.
