Notice that th NYCTA paint scheme as used on the SIRT cars was based on the paint scheme of the R-15s although not completely identical. With reference to the headlight removal, it’s interesting that the TA installed the small running lights on the cars (SIRT didn't have them, they were only red taillights) around the same time it also installed battery deck lamps on the Lo0Vs to replace the kerosene lamps, yet it didn't bother to install sealed beam headlights on either of those groups of cars even though not too long after that the R-22s were ordered with seal beams as original equipment and the rest of the R types were retrofitted with them. |
