Re: Taking of Pelham 123-The book

One of the errors I noticed in the book was the C/R referring to the key that unlocked the door controls as the “drumstick key” The proper term is “drumSWITCH” key sometimes even just shortened to switch key. It got that name because it was originally only needed to change the drum switches on the Lo-Vs and the R-12s and 14s. As for the TA giving minimal assistance in the filming, that was the result of a dustup between the movie producers and the TA upper management. I was at the time the command center console dispatcher in charge of the Lex Av Line and had made arrangements to actually sort of play myself in the movie as the actual command center was supposed to be used for the filming. The TA’s General Counsel placed certain restrictions on the movie company which the producers didn’t like so they figured that they would go over the GC’s head to the Chief Exec Officer for Operations and maintenance. The Chief exec decided whatever the GC said was perfectly OK and the GC was so annoyed tht further restrictions were placed such that the movie company was now no allowed to use any other TA facility other that the train and the tracks that had already been agreed upon. That meant that the movie company had to build its own “command center” as well as a duplicate Grand Central Tower. And of course I wasn’t able to be used either.
