As originally delivered, the BMT Standards did not have multiple unit door control (MUDC), and there was a conductor/guard in each car. At some point (1920s?) they were retrofitted with MUDC and only required one conductor per train. This was concurrent with reconfiguring many cars into 3-car B sets. A cars were singles. Only the middle car of the B sets had active door controls. |
