As for the sanitation guy, If he got arrested, he's done. If he didn't, he's only up against a sick leave violation. If he has no prior discipline on his record (as in first offense) and a good work record, he might get away with an unpaid vacation, and keep his job. Those are two big "ifs"
But if he got arrested and was fired a/c the arrest, then gets acquitted or charges dropped, he could go to arbitration (thru his union) to try & get is job back. If he gets lucky, he wins & goes back to work...after about a 2 year wait to get his hearing and ruling.
Either way, he'd be kickin himself in the ass for the rest of his life asking himself "was it worth it?"
