Yes.

The track numbers in NYC Transit also indicate the direction.

In the BMT the northbound local track is 2 track or northbound. So the Manhattan-bound track on the M line between Metropolitan and Williamsburg Bridge is 2 track.

But for the longest time, J and M trains used the geographical direction.
