Ravenswood trains were weekend shuttles years before in the 60s IINM. This is a parallel to what the 14th-Canarsie was like in the same period. When the line was rebuilt a few years back, platforms were extended to allow 8 car trains as well as full ADA elevators. The meighboprhoods it serves have become much better off and trains are moderately full midday. From a wider perspective, US cities often "write off" various neighborhoods for decades waiting until residents (often including gentrifyers priced out of other areas) begin to upgrade the area on theirown. |
