If I had the money available, the entire Flushing line would be re-done as an underground subway built to B division standards and the Astoria line would also be a subway with an extension to La Guardia Airport, along with a few other projects. It is likely that back in the late 1940's / early 1950's the focus was on building highways and not mass transit - gridlock, lack of parking spaces and air pollution were not even considered. |
