After the IRT Astoria service was surrendered to the BMT in 1949, the lower level platform was extended west and covered over the space where the Xover used to be. If it were possible, it would have been a good idea to retain that Xover like they did the one on the upper level to make the shop and other non revenue moves between the lines easier. |
