"Back when alcohol was prohibited, the mob made its money off illegal booze sales."

Back in the pre prohibition days, the mob donated serious $$$ to temporance groups to help finance their cause. History dictates that it was mob money (for the mob) well spent.
Nowadays, there probably salavating at the possibility, however how remote it seems now, that cigarettes will be outlawed.
