I was on my way home from school (Stuyvesant HS in Manhattan to home in the Sheepshead Bay area of Brooklyn) on Nov. 15, 1960 and got to ride on the R-27s on the QT-Brighton Local on the first day of service. The advertising cards were not all in place yet on the train. Big mystery of the day - what is a "QT". Prior to the R-27s, letters were only used on the IND.
