This probably came out with the R27's in 1960. Nothing higher than the numeric R16 signs would be seen on the Eastern Division until Nov 1967.

M - Nassau St Express - obviously intended for the Myrtle-Chambers train, but used for the Brighton-Nassau service (should have been "QN" ?), though one would have no idea from which of 4 Brooklyn branches the train ran on.
