Not really.The East was planned for platform extensions like the rest of the system, but the bottom dropped out of the city's budget(fiscal crisis of the 70s). However, since then, there was no real excuse for the MTA not to extend platforms along the Elevated sections especially stations that were rebuilt. It's understandable that some stations need major reconstruction, such as widening like Myrtle Ave/Broadway, Fulton St.. But that doesn't matter. The MTA has officially turned the Eastern division routes into a "Special case", isolating it from the system, with the exception of the M line. |
