Yeah.Any mediation will likely be expensive, and time consuming. Especially since they are going the way of the dinosaur. But, the MTA boxed itself in with unitized sets. However, since the East can't accommodate 75ft cars as a norm, that doesn't say that it couldn't with 60ft 10 car trains,or even 9 car trains. 480ft trains is the self imposed limitations the MTA placed on the east due to the "married pairs" sets built from R27s forward. Nine car sets can operate Right Now,if there was the Will to do so. |
